Port Angeles: BJ's Garden Gate: "BJ'S for Garden Lovers and their sweethearts!"  - Mommanature, Winnetka, CA. Sep 3, 2007

My husband and I spent eight memorable days with BJ and Frank and HIGHLY recommend their bed and breakfast! Each morning my husband would bring

his coffee out to the bluff and sit quietly amid the flowers and watch the sun come up over the Pacific. He was frequently rewarded with a glimpse of

whales and otters fishing for their breakfast. We of course, didn't have to work for ours... we gathered daily at a beautiful table with sweeping views

of the gardens and were treated to the most fabulous breakfasts! BJ took time to each morning to welcome everyone and offered advice on day trips and

local attractions. As we drove into the driveway each evening tired, but happy, we were blessed with local deer grazing peacefully on the lawns.

Seeing BJ's gorgeous Victorian waiting at the end of the drive was indeed a site for tired eyes. Frank worked quietly behind the scenes making sure

everything was ready for the guests and BJ was always there with a smile to greet you when you returned home. Our room was "Victoria's Repose" , a

beautiful spacious room with a fabulous view! The bed was comfy (and beautiful!) and each night BJ made sure the room was clean, the ice bucket

was full, and we had two homemade (yummy) cookies waiting for us. As I strolled the breathtaking gardens of an evening, I was reminded that indeed

"one is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth." Our visit was truly a little piece of heaven for two tired adults who needed

some recharging. DON'T MISS IT!! If you have a chance to go, even for acouple of days, do it! You won't regret it. And THANKS BJ & Frank! You two

are the best! We look forward to the day we return to Port Angeles and BJ'S.  It truly was a WONDERFUL visit!! Steven & Nancy Fuller

BJ's Bed and Breakfast was a real treat. My wife and I stayed there in the middle of February and had a wonderful time. We knew the caliber of Inn we were staying at as soon as we pulled up the drive alongside a wonderfully landscaped retreat and well-attended garden. We walked through the welcoming arch covered in greens and progressed alongside a greenery rich with various flowers, shrubs, and garden fairies.

We were early so we caught BJ the Hostess off guard as she was tending the "back 40" so-to-speak. The back of the grounds resembled a huge English or European courtyard nearly the size of a football field which opens up to the Bay. What a beautiful site, and we weren't even there during the blooming season!

Without droning on about the beauty of the grounds, the view, the house, etc. I'll just say this: Go there for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

We staying in an oversized Victorian-style room decorated with imported European antiques and our very own fireplace. The hot tub for two on the private deck topped it off and made it a most romantic stay for us.

I would highly recommend this B&B. Oh yah- and the food was soooooooo scrumptious! We look forward to a visit in the blooming seasons.

My husband and I spent the first weekend of June at BJ's Garden Gate.
As we drove on to the property we were greeted by a plethera of different flowers and trees that lined the driveway. Before we got out of the car, BJ (the owner) was out to warmly welcome us to her beautiful victorian home. The large home is located on a high bluff overlooking the straights of Juan de Fuca, across from Victoria, and is surrounded by well-designed landscape and english gardens filled with unusual plants and blooming annuals.

BJ, a very warm and personable hostess, gave us a short tour of the grounds and showed us to our room. We stayed in Victoria's Repose, a lovely and tastefully decorated room filled with antiques brought over from Europe. There was a fire burning in the fireplace and a plate of freshly baked chocolate cookies on a table by the bed. Outside our room, on the patio, was a romantic hottub with an unobstructed view overlooking the straights of Juan de Fuca (complimentary use of terrycloth bathrobes in the closet) .The room was very clean, comfortable and large in size.

We arrived at the bed and breakfast close to dinnertime. BJ went out of her way to find out the type of food we were interested in having for dinner, made reservations at a local restaurant and gave us excellent directions to the restaurant. We were extremely impressed by her hospitality and care for our needs!

In the morning we were greeted with a gentle knock on the door and friendly BJ reminding us that breakfast would be in a few minutes. The table was formally set with attractive place settings. We were served hot coffee and fresh orange juice. Then BJ brought out a plate filled with a delicious egg dish, potatoes, and freshly baked bagels. But the best part of breakfast was visiting with BJ. She was full of life and a great conversationalist. It was obvious that she loves people and enjoys serving them. She is definitely in the right business!

Our stay was more than we expected and we plan to return in January for our anniversary!

BJ, Thank you for your sincere Kindness and fabulous hospitality.  You've done a great job of bringing "Southern Hospitality" to the Pacific Northwest.

BJ, We've been treated like European royalty while we were here in the Maria Theresa Suite.   Thanks so much, and best wishes for your continued success.                      Nancy & George - California

It's not just the antiques, the garden, or the location that impress me most but the European hospitality.  Only in Europe have we had the chance to be pampered this way and it is refreshing to see that this tradition is well represented here by BJ's Bed and Breakfast on the Olympic Peninsula .  This is what lens its true character.

My husband and I first went to BJ's Garden Gate back in 2001 before we were married and now we go back every year for our anniversary. BJ’s is the most beautiful, romantic place I have seen in a long time. The gardens are spectacular and the rooms......oh the rooms are so romantic. They are old Victorian style, with big plush beds. Almost every room has a big Jacuzzi tub to soak in with that your sweetie. Then my favorite room is Victoria's Repose...... it has its own private hot on the deck that you can sit in and watch the stars at night.
Now let’s not forget about the breakfast......YUMMY! BJ makes the best breakfast ever, if only I could get her to be my own personal chef… LOL. The portions are perfect and she will usually ask you the night before to make sure you don’t have any food allergies, she try’s her best to accommodate everyone staying there. One time we were staying there we had to get up early to catch the ferry to Victoria which meant we were going to miss breakfast; well BJ went ahead and packed us up a breakfast. How sweet is that?!?!
Another occasion we stayed there I had come down with an awful cold and BJ made me some hot tea and brought it to me in my room. I can not think of any other hotel and or B&B that would do that.
BJ is full of information (sometimes more then you can remember at one time) on where to go, where to eat what to see and do on the Peninsula. If you want to eat a romantic dinner in town she will call ahead and make reservations for you.
We highly recommend BJ's Garden Gate to all our family and friends that are looking for a romantic getaway. And have had other family members that have stayed with BJ and say wonderful things about the place also.
BJ and Frank are wonderful hosts and we look forward to staying with them many more times in the future.
Thanks for making our stay with you always as wonderful as ever!

My husband and I just returned from a lovely weekend at BJ's Garden Gate, where we celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful! The setting was gorgeous, with hundreds of beautiful flowers and a great view of the water!
Our room was very clean, spacious and inviting. I especially liked the two person jacuzzi tub, very relaxing! I also enjoyed the spectacular view while nibbling on the delicous, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that BJ left in our room each day! BJ's breakfasts were also quite tasty! During breakfast, BJ spent time talking with us and the other guests. She knew all the best places to visit, such as Crescent Lake, Sol Duc, Hurricane Ridge, and Rialto Beach. She gave great directions and was very helpful in suggesting a picnic lunch, as many of these sites are far from restaurants. After a day of sightseeing, it was great to come back to this peaceful B&B.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! BJ and Frank were gracious hosts and the setting was very peaceful. A great place to relax and recharge the batteries. We'll definitely return!
